German Schutzpolizei Police Shako Helmet
Item: GM727

Original 1936 pattern police Shako.  Body is molded black vulcan fibre covered with the police green wool covering on the exterior.  Wool is in excellent shape with just minor surface soiling.  Both the front and rear visors are firmly secured to the Shako.  Front visor has some chipping along the edge.  Both sides of the Shako have two vent screens.  Shako has some chipping on the edge of the top vulcan fibre disk.  Additionally, some of the threads are loose, but disk is firmly in place.  Front insignia plate is aluminum and is screwed in place.  It has beautiful detail.  The cockade is a post war replacement. The Shako has a black leather chinstrap with two aluminum adjustment buckles.  Leather liner is supple and fully intact with 8 fingers.  Maker's decal on inside of crown.  Manufactured by H. Becker & Co. of Berlin.  Has remnant of paper label with owner's name and unit.  Size marked 57.  Nice helmet.
